He was born on January 12, 1882 in Guysmills, PA. He moved to Oregon at age three and one-half. Settled at Scottsburg. Later moved to Junction City and then to Salem. He attended Oregon State College and had his first postion at Foster (Big Bottom). Married Annie Matilda Chistianson of Pontpelier, Idaho on August 18, 1901 in Albany. They lived in Albany until June 1929 when they moved to Eastside, Oregon. He worked in Civil Service at the Post Office. They have 11 children. Chilrdren: Nora Ruth Humphreys, William John Humphreys, Willard Robert Humphreys, Vesta Velma Humphreys, Matilda Margaret Humphreys, Esther Virginia Humphreys, Thomas Norris Humphreys, Francis Andrew Humphreys, Agnes Annie Humphreys, Helen Louise Humphreys, & Leonard David Humphreys.

She was born on December 30 1881 in Montpeiler, Idaho. She was a quite person. She was part English. She was born on a wagon train when her family was heading west. She would give tea with cream and sugar to her grandchildren. It was a special treat. Kathryn Wessner knew that her grandmother loved her because she wrote her letters when she was a teenager. She weighed about 89lbs. She was the tiniest thing and people always wondered how she had so many children.
